Investigation of mitochondrial import/export cellular routes of iron and iron-binding proteins

Description of tasks:

  1. Identification of mitochondrial proteins involved in the import and export of iron and Fe/S clusters
  2. Investigation of the import mechanisms of iron- and Fe/S-binding proteins through mitochondrial import assays
  3. Gene knock-out of the proteins involved in the signaling pathways linked to cellular iron homeostasis
  4. Exploitation of the above tasks in the context of industrial applications (e.g. antimicrobials)
